Horst Görtz Institute sends new representative for eurobits board
Friederike Schneider becomes a new member of the board of the European competence center for IT security | Bochum, 15.03.2019 | Friederike Schneider follows Dr. Sven Schäge as representative of the Horst Görtz Institute on the board of eurobits. Dr. At the end of February, Sven Schäge resigned from his position as representative of the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security (HGI) at eurobits. Since 2016, he has been appointed member of the Executive Board of eurobits as scientific director of the institute. Dr. From now on, Schäge will devote himself entirely to research at the Department of Cryptography of Eike Kiltz. We thank Dr. med. Pity for his great commitment. The new HGI representative will be Friederike Schneider. She has been working at HGI since 2015, where she is responsible for research and transfer. As a former project manager of the network “nrw.uniTS”, she is particularly familiar with the IT security scene in NRW. One focus of her work is the promotion of ITS start-ups. Among other things, she helped to set up the IT security incubator Cube5. In addition to the area of transfer, Friederike Schneider has specialized in applying for third-party funding at the HGI. Friederike Schneider is looking forward to the new activities at eurobits: “The eco-system in the area of IT security is unique in the Ruhr area. In addition to cutting-edge research, companies and start-ups in the industry are steadily growing. My motivation for joining eurobits is to actively accompany this process and to strengthen synergy effects through close cooperation. Together we can increase the visibility of the location and ensure that qualified professionals in Bochum and the region continue to be trained and maintained. “
