A special project milestone: ewa’s first training course launched
After around one and a half years of project work, the time had come on Monday, May 6: the first program course of the eurobits women academy has now officially started. A special milestone for our three-year research project.
On May 6, our ewa project team welcomed the ten female participants to the start of the training course via video conference. After getting to know each other for the first time, the official introduction to the program took place. Over the next few months, the participants will receive an overview of the most important terms, techniques and concepts of cyber security and learn how to transfer their theoretical knowledge into professional practice through targeted application tasks. “With the content of the training course, we provide women with the basic knowledge they need to make a career change and give them an insight into the professional opportunities in the industry,” explains project manager Jana Bodenstedt with regard to the training concept.
In order to allow the women to manage their time flexibly alongside their current job, each of the eight modules is initially accessed and completed in self-study via an online learning platform. The women then work on transfer tasks in alternating tandems, which they present to the entire group at a workshop lasting several hours. There, the content they have learned is discussed further and deepened. On June 8, the group will meet for the first face-to-face meeting in Bochum – seven further workshop dates are planned, both online and in person.
Second course starts in August
The knowledge gained from the pilot course will be continuously incorporated into the further development of the program. A second course will then start in August, with which the project team will gain additional experience. Here too, the project team will award a total of ten places to interested women who would like to take the professional step into cyber security. The aim is to use the scientific findings from the project to make a recommendation for a targeted continuation of the measures that have been started outside of the prototype project environment.
Participants wanted for online surveys!
As part of the project, we are currently conducting two online surveys on “Personnel requirements in the field of IT security” in collaboration with the Ruhr University Bochum. The first survey is aimed at HR managers from all sectors and employees in the field of IT security. The second survey is aimed specifically at women, regardless of whether they are already working in IT security or not. The results of both surveys will be incorporated into our project measures, so we look forward to receiving lots of feedback. Participation in both surveys takes approx. 10-15 minutes and is possible until July 31, 2024.
